More snow is on the way for Chicago as we have gone from a winter that really was not real winter-like and we have flipped the switch essentially where winter has not as some might say all the sudden taken a dose of steroids and the hits keep coming. With a foot and a half or so of snowpack down, we will certainly add to it. We could also break some record cold numbers in the coming days. With a deep snowpack that is highly reflective with a high albedo, it is not surprising that the snow coupled with a serious cold punch from the arctic will be on the move and take up residency for several days or more. Models continue to show solid snow as it has over the past week and then severe cold that follows.
